We have not long returned from our buying trip in London, where we had been viewing the new collections for Autumn 2017/2018. We decided to make a list of what we thought was missing in the boutique and what brides had been requesting, so as not to waste any time, and not to be too overwhelmed. I now know how brides feel when they enter a bridal boutique for the very first time, as the moment we walked through the door all we could see were bridal gowns upon bridal gowns as far as the eye could see, enticing us toward them.
Our first stop was to the fabulous Kenneth Winston stand, with whom we are premier stockists and who never fail to delight us with their exquisite gowns. My eye was immediately drawn to an incredibly gorgeous dress that had the softest tulle, floaty skirt along with a beautifully beaded bodice and delicate crystal straps supporting a low back. We were in love and needless to say this gown will definitely be taking up residence in the boutique.
We also loved the gorgeous crepe dresses that seem to be already making an impact in the boutique. Crepe is a very comfortable, slightly supportive fabric to wear and hangs beautifully, thus giving a very elegant look. Needless to say we had to buy some more.
Cutouts and low V neck’s are still on trend and for all those that feel they are a tad risqué there is the option of having them filled in. We also noticed that quite a few dresses had longer sleeves, which we thought would be perfect for our winter brides and those wanting slightly more arm coverage.
For those that don’t want the traditional Ivory, have you ever thought about a floral gown?
We noticed that quite a few designers did have floral gowns in the most beautiful pastel shades, so for brides that are wanting something a little different this may be an option.
Lace is still huge whether it be in fishtail, column, mermaid or ballgown, but chiffon, organza and tulle are proving to be very popular too. Quite a few of our brides love the movement that the softer fabrics create, giving a very dreamy romantic feel.
We have also taken on a new designer which we are incredibly excited about. We had felt that we weren’t able to accommodate every budget, so by having this label will now mean that our dresses can start from £500!!!! These gowns will be arriving in the autumn and I have to say the quality is absolutely fantastic, which is something that is very important to us. You will also have the option to change the fabric of the dress, increase or decrease the train, add straps and much more. More details about this designer will be revealed in due course.
All in all a very successful trip to London.
